Ester L. Cain Gillis
Esther L. Cain Gillis, 89, of Vets Club Road died Friday at Sunnyview Home.
Born Nov. 15, 1917, in Adams Township, she was the daughter of Wilbert Cain and Gertrude Elizabeth Barclay.
Mrs. Gillis was a homemaker. She was a member of the Meridian Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Elizabeth Circle of Meridian United Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of Butler Extension Group, Butler Boat Club and the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 73.
She enjoyed bird and squirrel watching and following the Pittsburgh Pirates on TV and radio. She was an alumnae of Penn Township High School Class of 1936.
Mrs. Gillis is survived by her husband, Frank R. Gillis Sr., whom she married July 31, 1944; two sons, Frank R. Gillis Jr. of Renfrew and Ronald G. Gillis of Connoquenessing; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; a brother, John Erhart of Evans City; and two sisters, Dorothy Edinger and Jane Smith, both of Mars.
Mrs. Gillis was preceded in death by two daughters and four sisters.

North St.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen N. Cahoon of Meridian United Presbyterian Church officiating.
