Roger V. McClean
Roger V. McClean, 73, of Butler and Naples, Fla., passed away at 10:50 a.m. Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, following a brief illness with his wife and family by his side.
Roger was born April 30, 1942, in Johnstown, Pa., to the late William R. and Bernice (Work) McClean.
He graduated from Butler High School in 1960 and Gordon Military College in Georgia.
Roger was employed at Armco Steel Corp. working in the coil warehouse for 38 years and retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Meridian United Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Butler Area Street Machines and the Armco Duck Pin Bowling League. He also assisted with the Presbyterian Church community dinners.
He enjoyed doing carpentry work, reading, dancing, afternoon drives and crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed Friday morning breakfasts and golfing with his buddies, driveway parties and watching the Florida sunsets during the winter.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, who he married July 8, 2000; two sons, Roger V. McClean Jr. and his wife, Wendy, of Butler and Scott McClean and his wife, Stephany, of North Carolina; one daughter, Leah McClintock and her husband, William, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Brittany McClean, Stephanie Nickerson and her husband, Nathan, Jacob McClean, Scotty McClean Jr., Meredith McClean, Taylor McClean and Rachel McClintock; three stepchildren, Steve Ralston of New York and Daniel Fontaine and his wife, Laura, and Timothy Fontaine, all of Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Avril McClean and Parker Hemphill; two step-grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Fontaine; two brothers, W. Kent McClean of The Villages, Fla., and Richard McClean and his wife, Carol, of Butler; and two nieces, Kristen McClean and Megan Coval and her husband, Nicholas.
MCCLEAN — Family and friends of Roger V. McClean, who died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Meridian, with the Rev. Stephen Franklin, pastor, officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Public Library, 218 N.
