Scholarship forms available at KCKARNS CITY — Applications for the Griffith D. Morgan Scholarship are available in the guidance offices of Karns City High School and Armstrong High School. The application deadline is April 28.Each applicant must be a permanent resident of East Brady in Brady Township, Clarion County or Sugarcreek Township, Bradys Bend Township or Washington Township, Armstrong County, and enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university program for the 2017-2018 school year.Official transcripts and evidence of college admission are required with the application.

Child Check dates in February slatedThe Lifesteps’ Child Check team will offer free screenings in February for children from birth to age 5:9 to noon, Monday, Butler YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.9 a.m. to noon Feb. 27, Lifesteps Butler County Program Center, 383 New Castle Road.A Child Check visit takes about 30 minutes and the results are discussed with the parents.The screening evaluates the child’s development in playing, talking, seeing, hearing, moving and thinking.Appointments are recommended. Lifesteps enrolling for pre-k programLifesteps’ Early Education Center, 383 New Castle Road, is enrolling for the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts program.The full-day and afternoon half-day classes are part of the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts program, which offers qualifying children a free pre-kindergarten education.The program is for children who may be at risk of academic failure due to income, language and cultural or developmental concerns.Enrollment space is limited.
