PITTSBURGH — Dr. Christopher Carcia of Sarver is the new chairman of Duquesne University's Department of Physical Therapy at the John G. Rangos School of Health Sciences.
Carcia, who is an associate professor of physical therapy. also is the director of the Rangos School's Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science program.
He joined Duquesne in 2002, and he teaches courses in orthopedics and functional kinesiology and biomechanics.
Carcia's expertise focuses on evaluation and treatment of shoulder and knee pathologies; ankle and foot biomechanics; and running and cycling-related injuries.
Carcia has a bachelor's in physical therapy from Arcadia University; a master's in physical therapy/orthopedics from the Institute of Health Professions at Massachusetts General Hospital; and a Ph.D. in kinesiology and sports medicine from the University of Virginia.
CRANBERRY TWP — The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton recently had a groundbreaking at the site of its new facility in the township. The retail office is scheduled to open in early 2014.The 7,400-square-foot building is at the intersection of Route 19 and Ogleview Road.In a news release, William Marsh, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of the bank, said, “A banking office in the fast growing southern Butler County area is a perfect complement to our existing banking network and business opportunities in this market that will support our growth strategies.”This marks the bank's fourth office in Butler County. It has offices at Bon Aire Plaza and Meridian Road in the Butler area and in Eau Claire in northern Butler County.Overall, Farmers has 13 offices in Venango, Butler, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Jefferson and Mercer counties.
Curt Pritchard has joined NexTier Bank as a financial services professional.Pritchard, a 2001 graduate of La Roche College, has a number of registrations through LPL Financial. His background also includes accounting and sales management experience.
The Obama Administration on Aug. 1 launched a new website to help businesses answer questions about how the Affordable Care Act affects them.The site, http://business.usa.gov/healthcare, provides educational materials and includes tools to help businesses based on their size and location. It also connects employers to information about tax credits and other resources.
Allegheny Mineral, a subsidiary of Kittanning-based Snyder Associated Companies, announced Companies announced the purchase of substantially all the operating assets of Quality Aggregates, a Pittsburgh-based aggregates producer.Allegheny Mineral gained three quarries and about 85 employees in Western Pennsylvania. The move boosts the company's long-term aggregate holdings, including significant limestone reserves.Allegheny Mineral is a family owned and operated aggregate company that specializes in producing limestone construction aggregate, industrial rock dust and agricultural lime.
