Due to a scheduling conflict on the part of the National Players, Butler County Community College must cancel from its Performing Arts Series the show at 8 p.m. March 24, "The Importance of Being Earnest."

Letters are being prepared for season pass holders and for single event ticket holders. Those who have purchased tickets not part of the season pass will be notified of the available options via a letter or e-mail by the end of the week.

PENN TWP — Sing Hosanna! will stage "More Than Just a Man," created by Chris Machen and Kim Messer, on March 24 and 25.The dramatic Easter musical will start at 7:30 p.m. March 24 and 2 p.m. March 25 at Penn Christian Academy, 199 W. PENN TWP — Area residents may attend the Bridal and Events Open House at The Conservancy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 17. Succop Conservancy is at 185 Airport Road.The event will showcase the 50-acre estate and facilities that have become a popular location for weddings, receptions, showers, parties, dinners, retreats, workshops and conferences.Open house guests can tour the main house and learn more about the unique features of this country estate. The Trinity Jazz Orchestra will play at 7:30 p.m. March 16 in sponsorship with Butler County Manufacturing Consortium. The performance by the orchestra, Western Pennsylvania's only professional, repertory jazz orchestra, follows the Manufacturing Technology Expo with a collaborative event showcasing "Hot Careers and Cool Jazz" at Butler County Community College.Admission is $12 for general admission and $10 for students. PITTSBURGH — The Western Pennsylvania Kennel Association will host two dog shows March 31 and April 1 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd.In addition to the dog show and agility trials, on Saturday only there will be an "Ask the Vet" booth. MONROEVILLE — The Pittsburgh Comicon, a comic book convention, will be held April 27, 28 and 29 at the Pittsburgh ExpoMart.Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 28 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 29.Admission is $17 per day, or $45 for a three-day pass. PITTSBURGH — The USS Constitution traveling exhibit sails into the Senator John Heinz History Center next weekend. Nicknamed Old Ironsides, the 209-year old USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world.From March 15 to 18, members of the ship's active-duty Navy crew and a full-size replica of the ship's gun deck will be at the History Center to provide a glimpse of life at sea. Please note that the actual ship remains in the safety of Boston Harbor.Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and talk with the ship's captain and crew in full uniform and inspect authentic replicas of food and tools from the early 1800s. PITTSBURGH — The Orchid Society of Western Pennsylvania will sponsor its annual Orchid Show on March 24 and 25 at the Phipps Garden Center, 1059 Shady Ave., Shadyside.The show is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 24 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 25.Thousands of orchids in bloom in beautifully staged exhibits and arrangements will be displayed. Plus, there will be rooms filled with orchids and orchid supplies for sale by vendors from all over the United States.As a special attraction, there are free education classes both days. PITTSBURGH — Broadway musical "Sweet Charity," starring film star Molly Ringwald, will come to Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave., on April 3 to 8, as part of the PNC Broadway Across America — Pittsburgh Series.Ringwald's big screen success began with the romantic comedy, "Pretty In Pink" and includes other notable films like "The Breakfast Club," "Sixteen Candles," "The Pick-Up Artist" starring Robert Downey Jr. and "Betsy's Wedding."The performance schedule is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 8 p.m. Friday; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday; 1 p.m. Sunday.Tickets range from $20.50 to $62 and are available on the Web site, www.pgharts.org, or by calling 412-392-4900.

BROWNSVILLE — The Brownsville Historical Society will host Candlelight Ghost/Legend Tours at Nemacolin Castle, Front Street, from 6 to 10 p.m. tonight through Sunday and March 16 to 18.You might start to believe in ghosts once you tour this 217-year-old house museum by candlelight with a guide dressed in period costume and telling tales of documented ghostly activity.Members of the Mon Valley Ghost Research Society will be available most nights for questions and to share pictures and stories.Admission is $7 for adults, and $4 for children age 12 and younger. Two area theaters will conduct auditions for upcoming shows.The Red Barn Theater in Allison Park will have auditions for its 47th season from 1 to 5 p.m. March 17 and 18 at the Hampton Municipal Building on McCully Road.Productions to be cast are "Ancient History," "The Perfect Party," "Some Girl (s)," "The Last Yankee" and "Italian American Reconciliation."No appointment is needed.
