The Mars girls 200 medley relay team of Rachel Szymkowiak, Chloe Pierre, Courtney Shields and Gabri Pierre finished fifth with a time of 1 minute, 52.87 seconds at the PIAA Class AA Swimming Championships Friday at Bucknell University.

The quartet placed seventh in the preliminaries with a time of 1:53.99.

Szymkowiak picked up a second medal Friday in the 100 butterfly. Her time of 59.31 in the finals earned her a seventh-place finish.

In the 200 individual medley, Knoch's Rachel Tano earned an eighth-place medal with a time of 2:14.11 after being clocked at 2:12.22 in the prelims.

Mars' Courtney Shields was the only other Class AA swimmer to reach the finals, recording a 59.82, which was good for 13th place.

Other swimmers taking part Friday were the Freeport girls 200 medley relay (Gail Erickson, Andrea McQueen, Keil Erickson, Katy Screen; 21st, 1:58.21) and Erickson in the 200 IM (31st, 2:22.46) as well as the Grove City boys 200 medley relay (21st, 1:45.02).
