LEWISBURG — Less than two weeks after winning her first WPIAL title, Anne Marie Bilott added a state championship to her resume.

The Penn Township resident swam the third leg of the Shady Side Academy girls 400-yard freestyle relay Thursday at the PIAA Class AA Swimming Championships at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium.

The Indians won the event with a time of 3 minutes, 33.41 seconds, and edged second-place Trinity of District 3 by .04 of a second.

"She held the lead and even extended it a bit," SSA coach John Landreth said. "And this was just 15 minutes after she swam the (100) breaststroke."

Bilott, who won the WPIAL breaststroke title last month, could not be reached for comment.

Mars' Rachel Szymkowiak took fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.47 and Knoch's Rachel Tano earned a medal with an eighth-place effort in the event (1:08.05).

Courtney Shields of Mars placed eighth in the 100 freestyle at 53.32.

In boys action, Grove City's 400 freestyle relay squad placed eighth with a time of 3:18.51. The Eagles' quartet included Seth Brooks, Pat Shaw, Jacob Olson and Ryan Sestak.
