Butler PoliceThursday — Police charged Marques V. Holt, 31, no known address, with the New Year’s Day break-in at a former girlfriend’s home on Standard Avenue. He also is accused of assaulting the woman.The alleged victim, Kristen Caldwell, told police she heard a knock at the door. Moments later, she saw Holt force open the front living room window, according to court documents.Holt managed to get the top half of his body through the window, and he started to yell at Caldwell. She pushed on his head to get him out of the window but he grabbed her neck and pulled on her. She suffered a small cut on the lower neck.Police have an arrest warrant for Holt on charges of burglary, trespass and simple assault.Thursday — Bryan K. Hartman, 47, of Renfrew was charged with drunken driving stemming from a crash last month on the 300 block of East Locust Street.A neighbor notified police after witnessing the wreck that occurred about 12:10 a.m. Dec. 29 when the defendant’s pickup truck hit another pickup parked on the road. Hartman reportedly got out of his truck and carried a case of beer into a woman’s apartment.Officers spoke to the suspect at the woman’s home and noticed a “strong odor” of alcohol on his breath, according to a police affidavit. He admitted having two shots of liquor and was taken to the station for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol was 0.146 percent.A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, Hartman is charged with hit-and-run and careless driving.
Buffalo Twp Police6:36 a.m. today — A man suffered a minor cut to his head when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle on icy Sarver Road and crashed in front of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department station.Authorities did not immediately release the name of the man, believed to be in his early-60s. He was taken by Freeport Ambulance to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County.The man was westbound when his SUV slid off the road and hit a guardrail, according to a Buffalo Township firefighter. The vehicle bounced off the guardrail and struck the hillside. The vehicle’s air bag deployed but it was not known if the driver was wearing a seat belt.An report accident report was not available this morning.
Butler Twp Police8:11 p.m. Friday — Two boys were found smoking marijuana behind the Butler Township salt bin on Duffy Road. Police said the youths, who they did not identify, are charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.7 p.m. Jan. 3 — Tanni K. Milligan, 24, of Butler was caught at Butler Commons’ Walmart, where she had been previously barred due to a prior shoplifting case there. Police said Milligan is charged with trespass.
Butler County Sheriff’s OfficeFriday — Sheriff’s deputies charged Laura Bivona, 45, of Butler with failing to turn over her Chevrolet Tahoe for a sheriff’s sale last week.Authorities said Bivona was served with papers advising her of the Jan. 4 sale. But when the sale date arrived, she failed to show up and deputies could not find her or her levied vehicle.She is charged with defrauding secured creditors.Wednesday — Robert A. Gamble, 30, of Butler is accused of providing false information on a background check form to obtain a permit to carry a handgun.Gamble allegedly provided answers about his criminal record on the concealed carry application that were not truthful and was rejected by the Pennsylvania Instant Check System that is run by the state police.He is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities.
