April 5 — Larry J. Stine, 60, of Lyndora was charged with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol after a two-vehicle wreck last month on Hansen Avenue between Peterson and Randolph streets.

Police said Stine’s sport utility vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic about 8:05 p.m. March 3 and hit another SUV. The other driver, Michael R. McGovern, 53, of Slippery Rock, suffered minor injuries.

Stine’s vehicle, following the collision, crossed the other side of the road and hit a utility pole. He was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.20 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence, Stine is charged with reckless driving.

1:39 a.m. Sunday — Delaney E. Marion, 22, of Butler was charged with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was allegedly found unconscious in the bathroom at the New Castle Road Eat’n Park.

Police said officers and a Butler Ambulance Service crew used Narcan to revive Marion. He refused further treatment. Police report finding several used stamp bags and a syringe at the scene.

1:39 p.m. Saturday — A vehicle driven by Jason Self, 42, of Butler struck the rear of a vehicle stopped on South Duffy Road. The crash caused a chain reaction to the next two vehicles in the line of traffic.

The other drivers were Grace Soergel, 27, of Evans City; Cheryl Anderson, 60, of Petrolia; and Stephen Putney, 25, of Butler. Self, who sustained a minor hand injury, was cited for following too closely.

Butler Ambulance Service, Butler Township Fire District 3 and the VA Butler Healthcare Fire Department assisted at the scene.

8:50 a.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by Alan Sharkey, 52, of Butler and a vehicle driven by Fozia Chatta, 57, of Cranberry Township collided in the Butler Memorial Hospital parking lot.

1:28 p.m. Thursday — A vehicle driven by Raylene Claypool, 24, of Ohio and a vehicle driven by Blake Myers, 22, of Butler collided at the intersection of East McQuistion Road and Hillvue Drive.

2:49 a.m. March 31 — Jason T. Sherman, 18, of Butler was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a disturbance call at the intersection of Fontana Street and Meridian Road.

Police said they found several items used to store and ingest heroin. Sherman also was wanted on two unrelated arrest warrants.

9:20 p.m. March 11 — Sarah Lynn Bradley, 22, of Butler was charged with fleeing and eluding police as well as numerous traffic citations after police responded to an incident at the Walmart parking lot. Bradley allegedly drove through two red lights on South Duffy Road before stopping.

10:31 a.m. Wednesday — Police charged a couple with allowing a 2-year-old child to wander away from their home in the 300 block of North Broad Street. The unsupervised girl was found unharmed.

Tyler A. McCluskey, 21, and Emily F. McCluskey, 21, are both charged with child endangerment and disorderly conduct.

The relationship between the couple and the girl was not immediately known.

April 4 — A pair of volunteers serving at the Grove City Community Food Pantry on South Center Street allegedly served themselves to a garbage bag of donated clothing valued at $26.

The suspects — Debra M. Kerr, 44, of Mercer and Cynthia R. Moffatt, 46, of Sandy Lake — are both charged with retail theft.

5:17 p.m. April 2 — Paul M. Gubba, 48, landed in trouble with the law for letting his dog run loose in his neighborhood on Forest Drive. Police cited him for a dog-leash violation.

11:30 p.m. Sunday — Two unknown thieves stole several roofing guns out of a 33-year-old man’s pickup truck at his home in the 200 block of Main Street in Bruin.

The suspects were seen walking north on Main Street to the owner’s home. Both fled south afterward. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

Friday — Police reported they are investigating a case of identity theft in which someone filed a fraudulent tax return using the personal information of a 52-year-old Petrolia man.

5:05 p.m. Thursday — The state police fire marshal’s unit in Butler is investigating a fire at a mobile home on Route 268 in Sugarcreek Township. No one was injured but the fire caused an estimated $23,000 in damage.

4 p.m. Thursday — A small barn fire that caused about $500 in damage is under investigation by the fire marshal. No one was injured in the fire.

April 3 — Samuel T. Hines, 19, of Erie was charged with drugged driving during a speed enforcement detail last month on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said they stopped the teen for traveling 86 mph.

The “strong odor” of marijuana caught the attention of troopers when they got to Hines’ car, documents said. He admitted recently smoking and handed over a backpack.

Police said the backpack contained a glass jar with suspected marijuana in it, a digital scale and marijuana grinder.

Hines was eventually taken to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test, which confirmed he had marijuana in his system.

In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance and speeding, he is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, careless driving and reckless driving.

[naviga:h2]State Police, Franklin[/naviga:h2]

4 p.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Jeffrey A. Zappel, 44, of Harrisville was rear-ended on Interstate 80 just east of Clintonville Road in Clinton Township, Venango County. No one was injured but both vehicles had to be towed.

Police cited the other driver, Melissa A. Corson, 28, of Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, for careless driving.
