ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams denies ever contemplating suicide, and says private comments he made in text messages are being taken out of context by his ex-fiancee in a lawsuit over the possession of a $785,000 diamond engagement ring.

Calling himself “completely fine,” Williams says he was “venting” his feelings to someone he thought he trusted. Williams spoke after practice, in his first chance to respond since Erin Marzouki's attorney released a series of texts the two exchanged in November. The texts portray Williams as being despondent over their breakup.

BOSTON — Fewer than 4 percent of youth players surveyed in a USA Football-sanctioned study suffered concussions in the 10 leagues examined.Most injuries among nearly 2,000 players on more than 100 teams in six states were minor.

MERIDIAN — Meridian resident and United States Merchant Marine freshman Grant Foley helped the team become co-champions in the Division III Landmark Conference.Foley started 14 games at third base and hit .250 this season with a .412 on-base percentage. He lettered as a freshman and is carrying a 3.6 grade point average.

VERONA — A foursome led by Butler Country Club golf professional Rob McClellan won a best-ball tournament Monday at Green Oaks Country Club.The team, which included amateurs Sean Foust, Rob Foust and Marshall Barbour, shot a 130 (65-65), one stroke better than a team headed by Saint Clair Country Club's Jason Marciniec.

ERIE — Seneca Valley High graduate Vinny Rice, a senior first baseman on the Penn State-Behrend baseball team, has been named to the D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region Third Team.Rice batted .378 for the Lions (30-12) this spring, with 26 RBI and 20 runs scored.
