Monday - Raymond Priester, 36, of 142 Jackson St., Evans City was arrested after two checks on a closed account of a city woman were cashed last week at the Butler Armco Credit Union. Priester is charged with forgery and theft by deception.

3:32 p.m. Sunday - Corine Gray, 24, of Elderton, Armstrong County, was arrested for allegedly shoplifting DVDs valued at $500 at the Wal-Mart, Butler Commons. Gray was arraigned on a retail theft charged and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $2,000 bond.Sunday - Vandals overnight caused about $1,000 in damage to the gazebo in front of Sunnyview Nursing Home, police said.About 80 balusters - pillars or columns supporting a handrail - were smashed or kicked out of the gazebo, which is used as a social meeting area by residents and family members of the facility.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.

4 p.m. Sunday - A burglar alarm apparently scared off a burglar who smashed a window during a break-in at the Filter Queen business on Denny Road.A witness heard the alarm and spotted the unknown suspect, described as a white man in his late-teens or early 20s climbing out a window at the business and ran away. Nothing was reported taken in the burglary.10:10 p.m. Friday - A woman was injured by flying glass after a deer that was struck by another vehicle was thrown into the windshield of a car she was riding in on Route 228 West near the Adams Township line, police said.Deborah Dunn, no age given, of Pittsburgh suffered numerous cuts to the face and neck. She was treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and released.Dunn was a passenger in a car driven by Michael Dunn, 48, of Pittsburgh. The deer was struck by an unidentified car and thrown into Dunn's car. The driver of the car that hit the deer did not stop.3:25 p.m. Thursday - Three 16-year-olds from Valencia were injured when the car they were riding in struck a tree along Browns Hill Road.The driver, Justin Bauman, and two passengers, Austin Futryk and Alyssa Everett, none whom was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

5:36 p.m. Monday - A car driven by Chad Ott, 18, of Pittsburgh veered off Interstate 79 in Worth Township, struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof. Ott suffered minor injuries while Zachary Buday, 18, of California, Washington County, a passenger in the car, suffered moderate injuries. Neither was wearing a seat belt.Monday - Three suspects were arrested for breaking into a number of vehicles in the early morning hours at homes on Saxonburg Road in Jefferson Township. The suspects allegedly took cell phones, compact discs, money and other items from the vehicles.Charged with theft from a motor vehicle are Kevin Davis, 26, Joshua Darrell Green, 26, and Richard Nagle, no age given, all of Butler. The defendants were arraigned and later placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond each.10:12 p.m. Sunday - A car driven by Christopher Stoppenbach, 26, of Redhook, N.Y., struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.5:43 p.m. Thursday - A pickup truck driven by Randy Bollinger, 25, of Butler struck the rear of a car driven by Mike Sigworth, 33, of Bruin on Route 68 in Summit Township.The crash forced Sigworth's vehicle into the rear of a car driven by Howard Brehm, 65, of Chicora. Brehm's car, in turn, was pushed into the rear of a pickup driven by Jason Dodds, 25, of Butler. Bollinger was cited for following too closely to another vehicle and driving without a license.

7:30 p.m. Monday - Three unknown suspects are being sought in connection with the theft of a coat valued at $300 taken from the London Fog store at Prime Outlets in Springfield Township, Mercer County. The suspects left the store in a small black car.6:59 p.m. Monday - A car driven by Sara Huntley, 53, of Mercer and an SUV driven by John Fretts, 46, of Grove City collided at Cranberry and George Junior roads in Pine Township, Mercer County.Both drivers and Barbara Fretts, 42, of Grove City, a passenger in the SUV, were treated for minor to moderate injuries at United Community Hospital in Grove City. All were wearing seat belts. Huntley was cited for a stop sign violation.9:15 p.m. Sunday - A car driven by Christopher Speer, 30, of Grove City struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Sandy Creek Township, Mercer County.
