KC girls use 17 hits to crush West Forest; Slippery Rock girls track edges Greenville

Rachel Higgins led Karns City's 17-hit attack with two singles and a triple as the Gremlins crushed West Forest, 16-1 in four innings in high school softball action Tuesday afternoon.

Brandi Dunkle added a single and two doubles for KC (5-7, 4-3).

In other games:

• Stephanie Leslie tossed a two-hitter, striking out 10, as Freeport routed Jeannette 12-2 in six innings.

Leslie also homered and singled twice for the Yellowjackets (9-5 overall, 8-4 in the section).

• Sara Vinca tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and added a home run, triple, single and three RBI as Moniteau rolled to an 8-1 triumph over Rocky Grove.

• Amanda Shearer and Jamie Laughner had two singles each but Slippery Rock fell to Jamestown 12-7.
