Orchestra cancels more performancesPITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has canceled all concerts through Nov. 18, including the Light Up Night Community Concert that evening that is part of the city’s traditional holiday shopping season kickoff.The orchestra had previously canceled concerts through Oct. 27 after the musicians went on strike Sept. 30.The musicians are objecting to a 15-percent pay cut and other concessions management says it necessary to keep the symphony solvent in the face of more than $20 million in debt over the next five years.

Man pleads guilty to child-sex chargePITTSBURGH — A former American Airlines operations manager who learned of the first Sept. 11, 2001, hijacking before the jet struck the World Trade Center is facing a federal prison sentence for a federal interstate child-sex charge in Pittsburgh.Ray Howland, of Arlington, Texas, pleaded guilty in June before the federal judge who will sentence him Wednesday.Howland was arrested near Pittsburgh International Airport in June 2015 by an undercover agent who posed online as a woman with a 10-year-old daughter who Howland arranged to meet for sex. The plea deal includes an agreed-upon 10-year prison sentence.Howland received some of the first panicked calls from employees at Boston’s Logan Airport in reporting the hijacking of an American Airlines Flight that hijackers crashed into New York’s World Trade Center towers.
