Slippery Rock senior Jence Rhoads became Butler County's all-time leading scorer in basketball Saturday night. She needs 28 points to reach the 2,000-point plateau.
Slippery Rock's Rhoads becomes county's all-time leading scorer during 51-40 victory

Jence Rhoads became the Butler County area's all-time leading scorer as the SlipperyRock HighSchool girls basketball team rallied past rival Grove City 51-40 Saturday afternoon.

Rhoads scored 24 points against the Eagles and passed Union's Joyce Wensel, who scored 1,963 points from 1978-82 for the Damsels.

Rhoads' record-breaking points — she now has 1,972 in her career — came as the Rockets (12-9, 7-3) had to rally in the fourth quarter to beat the Eagles (3-18, 0-9).

Grove City outscored Slippery Rock 16-4 in the third quarter to take a one-point lead into the fourth.

Caitlyn McNamara scored 11 points and CaitlinRothman added seven points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles.
