Slippery Rock High School's Angela Shaffer's effort of five feet gave her first place in the high jump Saturday at the Center Invitational.

The Rockets' best effort on the boys' side was Paul McConnell's second place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.91 seconds.

Javelin: 3-Mel Prelec 106-5n Moniteau's Amy Gladd brought home three first-place finishes from the Union (New Castle) Invitational on Friday.She won the 1,600 run (5:42), the 800 run (2:33) and the triple jump (30-11¾).Amanda Gladd won the 100 hurdles at 16.3 seconds.Kendra Hall, who placed second in both the shot put and discus at the Union Invite, turned around and duplicated that performance at the Brookville Invitational on Saturday.

Cody Moffatt managed 31 aces, Walter Santa had 15 kills and Bill Roberts 12 kills as the Butler boys volleyball team went 7-1 in the Hempfield Tournament on Saturday. The Tornado finished third out of 14 teams.Butler's junior varsity team finished first in an eight-team field.

Martina Burk's fourth-inning single was Moniteau's lone hit, as the Warriors (3-3) dropped a 1-0 final to Fern Creek (Md.) in Florida on Friday.The game was Moniteau's third in three days in the Sunshine State.
