Glomb strikes out 21 in Mars' 8-inning win

Monica Glomb's incredible senior campaign continues.

Four days after pitching her second no-hitter of the season, Glomb tallied 21 strikeouts and gave up just one hit in a 1-0, eight-inning win over visiting Highlands.

Saber Horner stole home for the game's lone run.

Only three outs recorded against Highlands were not strikeouts by Glomb.

In other games:

• Ashton Pakutz struck out 13 batters while scattering four walks and five hits to lead Karns City to an 11-1 six-inning triumph over Venango Catholic.

• Sam Volponi struck out eight batters in three innings and added a pair of hits as Slippery Rock blanked Farrell 10-0 in six innings.

• Madison Rotto, Brittany Showers and Jessica Rykaceski each tripled as Freeport downed Riverview, 10-5.

• A-C Valley never recovered from surrendering six third-inning runs in a 13-5 loss at Redbank Valley.

Sadie Marak and Sara Cobern each had three hits in Butler's 12-8 loss to North Hills.
