Hazel S. Strong

Hazel S. Strong, 93, of Eau Claire, formerly of Elizabeth, died at 5 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Living Center in Grove City.

Born Feb. 26, 1913, in Harmony, she was the daughter of William Jacob and Mayme McQuown Sickles.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Strong was a lifelong United Methodist and was a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church. She was active in the Wolfalo-Balsinger Sunday School Class, the Fishers of Men Mission Group and the United Methodist Women.

She was a past matron of the Elizabeth Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Order of Amaranth.

She is survived by a daughter, the Rev. Kathleen Soltis of Eau Claire; two grandsons, Ronald J. Soltis of Slippery Rock and Scott M. Soltis of Erie, and two great-grandsons, Austin and Dylan Soltis.

Also surviving are a sister, Carrie Check of Monongahela; a brother, Stewart Sickles of Elizabeth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband, William Gordon Strong, whom she married Feb. 26, 1934, died in December 1976. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Sickles, Mary Sickles Fuller and Margaret Sickles Fuller, and two brothers, Robert and William Sickles.

<B>STRONG </B>— Friends of Hazel S. Strong, who died Saturday, July 29, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Visitation also will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, where services will follow with the Rev. Ronald Lindahl officiating. Burial will be at the Jefferson Memorial Park.
