Tours of Preston Park, including the residence and the grounds, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 30, for a Thanksgiving-weekend walk. Admission is free, but registration is required and spaces are limited. Tours can also be specially arranged for groups. The park is at 415 S. Eberhart Road, Butler Township. Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, hosts Creatures of the Night, a non-scary Halloween adventure that features larger-than-life costumed nocturnal creatures, on Friday. The event will also be conducted Saturday at the Buffalo Creek Nature Center in Sarver. Programs are at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. both days. Registration is required and there is a cost. Nautical Nature pontoon boat at Moraine State Park concludes the season for its 1.5 hour cruises on Lake Arthur on Saturday. The 37-passenger, enclosed pontoon boat takes off at 1 and 3 p.m. from the McDanel’s Launch on the North Shore. Tickets are available at the Owlet Gift shop. Reservations are suggested by calling 724-368-9185.
Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will be the site of the program “A Bump in the Night” about nocturnal creatures at 7 p.m. Sunday. Project Feeder Watch will be conducted from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 so participants can learn how to count birds at feeders and help scientists track long-term trends in bird distribution and abundance.
