SLIPPERY ROCK — Borough council voted to hire a new part-time employee at its meeting July 7.
It hired Kristina McCullough as a part-time borough administrator who will work with administrator Lucinda Lipko in the borough building on Water Street.
Lipko said she will work Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for no more than 20 hours per week.
The new position was included in the borough budget, said Regina Greenwald, council president.
The borough used to have a part-time borough manager, but that position was eliminated. Council would like to bring in a manager again, when it is fiscally possible, Greenwald said.
Also at the meeting, council awarded an $87,693 contract to East Coast Paving, which will be paving the borough's portion of Kiester Road and Maltby Avenue this summer.
Slippery Rock Municipal Authority recently finished a water line replacement on Kiester Road and the paving should be finished before the fall semester begins at Slippery Rock University, Greenwald said.
