CRANBERRY TWP — The Friends of the Cranberry Library will host a pet parade Oct. 11 to benefit the township library.

Pat Ducharme, president of the group and organizer of the event, said pet owners will get the chance to dress their furry friends up in Halloween costumes.

After the event, all of the pet pictures will be posted in the library, where visitors can vote for cutest pet if they donate $1 to the library.

Each pet owner will receive a free professional photograph of their pet.

Ducharme said this is the third year for the parade.

She said last year’s winner was a poodle dressed as a bundle of purple grapes, while another notable costume included a puppy in a ballerina tutu.

“Unfortunately, there aren’t any prizes, but there are bragging rights,” she said.

The parade will run from 10 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 11 in the back parking lot of the township municipal center.

The pet parade isn’t the only animal-themed fundraiser in the works, Ducharme said.

The friends group is finalizing details for a similar photographic opportunity with Santa on Dec. 6.
