Symphony names 2020 Young Artist

Justin Oliver Choo, the Butler Symphony Orchestra's 2020 Young Artist Competition winner, performs “Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini” by Rachmaninoff. Symphony patrons can hear his performance by visiting the symphony's website.

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra recently announced its 2020 Young Artist Competition winner, pianist Justin Oliver Choo, who attends Fox Chapel Area High School.

Justin is a gold medalist of the World Piano Competition and the Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania “Young Artist.” He also was the winner of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Composition Contest and had his works premiered at the 2013, 2014 and 2016 PMEA Conventions. Justin is a student of Marina Lupinacci.

Due to the cancellation of the performance set for Saturday, Justin is not able to perform for symphony patrons. However, a You Tube link to a prior performance of his “Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini” by Rachmaninoff is available at the symphony website.

The organization also postponed until next year its “Dance with Butler County Celebrities,” a symphony fundraiser, that was scheduled May 2.
