BUTLER TWP — Fifteen plays, 80 yards, 7 minutes, 14 seconds off the clock.

"That's the kind of stuff coaches love to see offensively,"Butler football coach Jeff McAnallen said. "I know I love to see it."

He needs to see more of it.

The Golden Tornado (0-5) head to Shaler (5-0) for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday as part of the Titans' homecoming weekend.

Butler put together the aforementioned 15-play drive in the second half of last week's 28-14 loss to Erie McDowell. But the Tornado have yet to score more than two touchdowns or 17 points in a game this year.

Shaler is averaging 24 points per game and is coming off a 17-0 shutout victory at North Hills.

"It's all about everything coming together and that takes some time with the offense we're running, especially with young kids,"McAnallen said. "(Quarterback)Cole Harvey did a nice job of making reads and running the shifts we put in last week.

"He did a particularly nice job working with our adjustments at halftime. You only have 10 minutes (in the locker room during halftime) and he executed things well."

Harvey was named the Butler Quarterback Club's Player of the Week as he scored on a 6-yard run and threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Cameron McDonald-Cahill against McDowell.

Harvey leads Butler with 192 rushing yards and has thrown for 309 yards and four touchdowns.

"We're settling in on our running backs with Mason (McLaughlin) and Cameron,"McAnallen said. "We're rotating Tony Fudoli and T.J. Lesniewski at fullback because we're playing them both on defense, too.

"T.J. is just a great football player. He's developed into one of our best blockers. He had five or six pancake blocks last week."

The Tornado are playing only two seniors — 280-pound left tackle Nathaniel Cleary and 215-pound left guard Jeff Achezinski — on the offensive line. Center Stephen Powers is a sophomore, as is right guard Dylan O'Donnell. Right tackle Rick Gladd is a junior.

Tight end Jared Oesterling — the team leader with 13 catches for 108 yards — is a sophomore.

McAnallen lauded the play of senior linebacker Tony Andreassi last week.

"He was making tackles all over the field," the coach said.

In facing Shaler, the Tornado will be running up against an all-senior offensive line that averages 6-feet-2, 250 pounds across the front.

"Those guys work well together and Shaler is a confident, solid football team,"McAnallen said. "We're not ready to line up and go straight at them, so we'll do a lot of stunting and moving around.

"Our front four will have to do a lot of running, but there are ways to combat a line that's bigger than yours."

For the Tornado, it will be all about competing.

"It's their homecoming, with a parade and some other distractions that may work in our favor,"McAnallen said. "But this is a big game for them, and in high school football, there's no looking past anyone.

"There will be 8,000 people there, a packed house, and those are enjoyable games to play in. They're even more enjoyable games to win.

"We've got nothing to lose. We're going to play loose and have fun,"he added.
