Louis J. “Lou” Stempler
Louis J. “Lou” Stempler, 87, of Grove City, formerly of Cranberry Township, passed away Sunday at the Trinity Living Center in Grove City.
Born Oct. 14, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Stephen Charles Stempler and Mary (Beidel) Stempler.
Lou proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II while stationed in the Philippines.
He owned and operated the L.J. Stempler Co. on Route 68 where he specialized in lawn and garden equipment repair for many years. He also was a truck driver and locksmith.
He had the pleasure of racing cars at the Heidelberg Raceway where his family faithfully cheered him on from the stands.
During his free time, Lou loved playing the steel guitar with his two bands, The Nashville Express and the Country Clowns. But above all he will be most remembered as a devoted husband, father and pap who worked and lived for his family. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of nearly 66 years, Jean (Hartman) Stempler, whom he married on July 25, 1950; his eight loving children, Louis J. “Lou” Stempler Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Woodstock, Ga., Linda Peterson and her husband, Eric “Lucky,” of Lakeland, Fla., William “Bill” Stempler of Sarver, Stephen Stempler and his wife, Rose, of Bethel Park, Susan Stempler and her fiancé, Ken Lendick, of Ellwood City, Mark Stempler of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Beverly Evans and her husband, Russell, of Harrisville and Sharon Stempler of Ellwood City; two sisters, Josephine DelPercio of the North Hills and Ardella Baird of Alabama; 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by six siblings.
