Deann Pry

Deann Pry, an autistic support teacher at Meridian Elementary School, recently received a Wal-Mart Good Works award and the title of Teacher of the Year for Butler County.The award included $1,000 for use by Meridian Elementary School and $100 for Pry to use for her classroom.The award was presented during a school assembly by Sharon Warburton, head of community involvement for Wal-Mart, and Terry Hissem, local Wal-Mart store manager.Pry is now eligible for selection for a state award through Wal-Mart.———

<B>Butler County Pomona Grange</B> recently presented its community service award to <B>Nettie Martsolf</B>, a member of the Jefferson Grange.The award was presented at the recent Rural Life Sunday event held at St. John's Lutheran Stone Church in Harmony. Martsolf was honored for her efforts at the grange, service to Sunnyview Home and other civic activities.———

<B>Justice Hartman</B>, 10, daughter of Joanne Hartman of Prospect, has been named a state finalist in the National American Miss Pennsylvania Pageant to be held July 12 to 14 in Harrisburg.Hartman is active in basketball and competitive dance and enjoys scrapbooking.———

<B>Family Services of Butler Memorial Hospital</B> is now managing the <B>Butler County Suit Yourself</B> program, located at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.Formerly known as the Job Closet, the program was established to provide appropriate interview, job and court clothing free to area men and women.The program was created by a consortium of human service agencies, including the Butler County Assistance Office, Butler County Human Services, Butler County Team PA CareerLink, Butler County United Way and Goodwill Industries. It is staffed by volunteers and supplied by donations. The distribution center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. For information, call 724-287-4781, Ext. 4018.———

The <B>X-Cel Gymnastics All Star Cheer Leading Squad</B> recently completed a winning season.Participants in the mini level, for youth age 4 through grade two, have been named the 2007 JamFest National Champions. They also won the Champion Cheer Central, Elite State Championship, Alleghany Super Regional Champions, Steeltwon Champions, and competed at the Eastern National Championship in Sandusky, Ohio.Mini Level 2, for children in kindergarten through grade two, is the 2007 JamFest National Champions. They also won the Champion Cheer Central, Elite State Championship, Alleghany Super Regional Champions, Steeltwon Champions, and competed at the Eastern National Championship.The Junior Squad of participants in grades three to six won the champion Cheer Central, finished second in the Atlantic Championship and third at the US Sprint Regional and competed at the Eastern National Championship. They also received third place at JamFest.
