FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext., will have 9:30 a.m. Sunday school followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service. In honor of Veterans Day, there will be an honor guard, the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of patriotic songs.

A special congregational meeting to elect elders and deacons will follow. After worship there will be a potluck lunch.

Session meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday followed by the AA group at 7:30 p.m.

Weight Watchers will meet at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, at 10 a.m. Nov. 15 and at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Women’s Missionary Fellowship sponsors a gingerbread house baking event at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St. Call the church at 724-287-7241 if interested. Gingerbread house construction will follow Nov. 24.

Sunday’s service schedule begins at 9:45 a.m. with Sunday school classes. There will be an 11 a.m. worship service followed by a luncheon and 1 p.m. worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Members of First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., should bring dessert donations for the Butler Meals on Wheels program to the church Sunday. No nuts, icing or chocolate should be used in the baked goods. Cookies, cakes, quick breads, muffins and cupcakes are requested.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., meets at 7 p.m. Thursday with its BALM friends at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, for an evening of discussion.

The fellowship and service committee will meet at 10 a.m. Friday in the Ladies Lounge.

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, is open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. No proof of income is required. Each family may fill one large bag.

TED Talks Faith will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the social hall.

Sunday morning worship will be Harvest Home Sunday. Take donations for the Butler School District’s Weekend Backpack Program.

There will be a “Temple Talk” before worship, and a legacy presentation following worship by Ryan Ebner, gift planner from the ELCA Foundation.

The Christian education committee will meet following worship Sunday.

The property committee meets at 6 p.m., the finance committee at 6:30 p.m. and the worship and music committee at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Church Council meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., observes Consecration Sunday during worship. The handbells will ring.

Harvest Home food collection is bags of apples or potatoes.

The “Keep Me Warm” project sponsored by the Presbyterian Women requests donations of winter clothing including jackets, sweaters, mittens or gloves, socks, scarves and caps. Items will be received through Dec 16.

Operation Christmas Child boxes are due back to the church by Nov. 18.

INTERSECTION CHURCH

The men’s breakfast of Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave., meets at 8 a.m. Nov. 17 at Mac’s Route 8 Cafe, 16 Pittsburgh Road.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The stewardship committee of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, meets at 6 p.m. Thursday in the office while the deacons meet at 7 p.m. in the board room.

Veterans will be honored at both Sunday worship services. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will also help honor the veterans during the 11 a.m. worship hour.

CE/MO has its monthly meeting at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

The youth group meets at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The annual Turkey Bash will be at noon Nov. 15 in the Fellowship Hall.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will have its second annual Veterans Day bonfire from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday with activities, fellowship and food.

GROW meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday for a meal, fellowship, singing and study.

ORCHARD HILL BUTLER COUNTY

Orchard Hill Butler County worships at 107 Staley Ave. and invites people to be a part of the upcoming ministry year at Orchard Hill’s Dream Big Event Sunday at the Carnegie Science Center, 1 Allegheny Ave., Pittsburgh. SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., hosts a Veterans Day concert featuring the TMG Big Band at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. There will be an offering to benefit the Veterans’ Dental Program at the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center of Butler County. Everyone is invited.

EDGE (Every Day God Encounters), the midweek youth program, has started meeting at 5:15 p.m. Wednesdays. Sign up on the board in the narthex if you can provide a meal. For more information, contact Stephanie Slezak.

The Christmas cookie walk will be Dec. 8. There are sign-up sheets in the narthex.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, celebrates Holy Communion at 11 a.m. Sunday. Members should mark Veterans Day by wearing something that has red, white, and blue. Ralph Hotz is the guest speaker.

The church council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday. All members are welcome.

ST. JOHN LUTHERAN

St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, will have fall cleanup day beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday. Volunteers are needed.

There will be one worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday with a brief congregational meeting to follow to vote on three possibilities for the use of a significant donation made to the church. A luncheon follows.

The quilting group meets at 6 p.m. Monday at Cindy Knauff’s house. Blankets for batting and sheets for backing are needed.

The ladies book club meets at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The club will not meet in December.

ST. JOHN’S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, has scheduled its annual congregational meeting Sunday after the worship service.

Bell choir practice will also be Sunday after worship.

The Pittsburgh Association meeting will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Neighborhood Academy.

Christian Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

St. John’s quilters meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The praise team and choir practices begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, honors veterans at both Sunday worship services.

Communion will be shared at the 8:15 a.m. service.

Doughnut Sunday is in the Cafe, and Second Sunday prayers will follow each service.

The Outreach Ministry will lead the 2 p.m. Sunday worship service at Saxony Health Center, 223 Pittsburgh St., Saxonburg.

The Sewing Ministry meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday in the Fellowship Hall.

Monday’s council meeting has been moved to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Hattie Cooper Room.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The Faithful Friends trip of Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, is leaving the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.

There will be contemporary worship at all the services this weekend.

There will be a covered dish luncheon after the 11 a.m. Sunday service. All are welcome.

The stewardship committee meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Mentor training is at 6 p.m. Nov. 15.

Ladies quilting is at 1 p.m. Nov. 15.

VALENCIA PRESBYTERIAN

Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia, has its annual congregational meeting at 11 a.m. Sunday immediately following the worship service to elect officers and approve the 2019 budget and pastor’s terms of call. All active members are encouraged to attend.
