Steelers fan from Seven Fields gets own book
A children's book for fans of all ages of the Pittsburgh Steelers has been released.
---- “The Kick That Stunned Pittsburgh” is about an 8-year-old boy named Liam Gibbs and his unlikely trip to the Super Bowl.
---- In the story, a neighbor gives Liam and his father tickets to a Steelers game. During the game, Liam gets the chance to kick a 25-yard field goal to win a trip to the Super Bowl. What happens will warm the heart of any parent.
---- Liam, who lives in Seven Fields, is real, though the story is not.
---- His aunt, Helen Gibbs Pohlot, wrote the book years ago after hearing Liam speak so passionately about his favorite team.
---- “I just found his knowledge and passion and respect so remarkable, and I thought how lucky this team is to have these great fans,” said Pohlot of Doylestown, who is herself a lifelong Steelers fan though she has never lived in Western Pennsylvania.
---- Liam, now a sophomore at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School, is pleased with the story, his aunt said, even though it's fictional.
---- “He's delighted that anyone wrote about him,” she said.
---- “When a young child tells you about his passion, I just had to write something about that.”
---- The 16-page paperback book, with illustrations by Annette Gibbs, Liam's mother, costs $7.95 and is available at Steelers.com.
---- The publication is the first book planned in a Young Fan Series.
