BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler First Church of the Nazarene has Vonda Mishler providing the special music for morning worship.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church’s Lenten/Easter Book Club is Wednesday and Thursday starting March 4 and 5. Wednesday times are 7 to 8:30 a.m. and Thursday study is 9:30 to 11 a.m. This will be for seven weeks with no study on April 15 and 16. Sign up on the table in the narthex or call the church office at 724-287-4462.

Trustees will meet the second Tuesday of the month and the finance committee the third week of the month, while church council will continue to meet the fourth week.

Trustees meet March 10 and March 17.

The Bahama Methodist Habitat Youth Mission Trip is in July. Anyone wishing to join the trip is asked to contact Cherie Loomis.

All are invited to Holy Communion Sunday during both services. Membership is not required.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church kicks off the Lenten season with an 11 a.m. Sunday Communion service and a performance from the Covenant Brass Quintet.

The Sunday morning Seeker’s Class meets at 9:45 a.m. and will have a special Lenten study.

EAST BUTLER PRESBYTERIAN

East Butler Presbyterian Church has a bluegrass/gospel jam from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Participants are invited to bring instruments and join in. Snacks are welcome, too.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church has 9:30 a.m. Sunday school and a 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The Deacons meet after the worship service.

The AA group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WW meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. March 5 and 8:30 a.m. March 7.

WEST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church has game night at 5 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Youth Center. Take a dish to share, a 2-litter bottle of soda to share and a game to play.

There will be an 8:30 a.m. prayer service Sunday followed by a 9:15 a.m. breakfast, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school and an 11 a.m. worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church has 9:15 a.m. Sunday school and a 10 a.m. worship service with Holy Communion.

The Lenten service of the Butler Area Lutheran Ministries will be at First English Church at 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by a reception. Pastor Peter Asplin, assistant to the bishop, will be the preacher.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church celebrates Holy Communion at its 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Members of Grace @ Calvary will gather each Wednesday evening in Lent with other BALM (Butler Area Lutheran Ministry) churches for prayer and fellowship at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, First English Lutheran Church will host. The theme for this Lent will be “Praying The Psalms.”

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church celebrates the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday in Lent. The vocal choir will sing. Fellowship hour will follow the service.

Advent kits for families are available for families on the deacons table.

The handbell choir will rehearse at 11:45 a.m. Sunday,

Wednesdays on the Hill for children and youth resumes Wednesday. Donations of fruit and veggie tray are needed for the remaining weeks.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, has a seven-week study, “Understanding Spiritual Gifts,” beginning March 17. Sign up in the lobby.

The Presbytery’s annual leadership training event will be from 2 to 5 p.m. March 15 at Cranberry Community United Presbyter Church.

The church celebrates the Lord’s Supper during worship this week.

RIDER LUTHERAN

Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, has a 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Members should donate items to the church for its annual spring rummage sale.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church hosts a family game night at 6 p.m. Friday in the Memorial Room. Take a favorite game and a snack to share. Call the church office, 724-287-4777, so we know how much pizza to order.

This Lent, the Rev. Fred Young will be leading a study called “Seeing Familiar Scripture with Fresh Eyes.” The study begins at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the church library.

Saint Andrews shares the Lord’s Supper during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church at 100 Main St. in Connoquenessing celebrates Holy Communion during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The cause of the month for March is the Butler Emergency Relief Initiative (BERI).

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

The Sewing Ministry of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Saxonburg meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Fellowship Hall.

Holy Communion will be shared Sunday at the 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. worship services.

The senior high seminar meets at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Youth Room.

The community outreach & evangelism ministry team will lead the 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. worship at Magnolia Place (formerly Elmcroft Assisted Living Center), 100 Bella Drive, Saxonburg

The Prayer Circle meets at noon Tuesday for lunch and prayer.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church celebrates Holy Communion at the 5 p.m. Saturday and the 8 and 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship services.

The 3T group meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The Children’s Hour program is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The Pastor’s Lent Study begins Sunday during the Sunday school hour at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The Christian education committee meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

There will be a noon Lent prayer service Wednesday at the church.

The weekday 7 p.m. Wednesday Lent service will be at First English Church.

The chancel choir will sing at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

There will be contemporary vocal rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday

The monthly women’s Bible study will be at 10 a.m. March 5.

VALENCIA PRESBYTERIAN
