Freeport victory sends 'Jackets to playoffs

Brady Sherrieb scored 17 points, including the game-winner with less than 20 seconds remaining, to give Freeport a 44-42 victory over Ford City in boys basketball action Friday.

The win allowed the Yellowjackets (11-10, 7-7) to qualify for the WPIAL playoffs by finishing fourth in Section 1-AA.

Freeport, which also received nine points and nine rebounds from Bryan Zimmerman, had trailed 33-32 entering the fourth quarter, but scored all 12 of its points in the final 2:03.
