ADAMS TWP — Before Friday night's game against Indiana, Mars quarterback Eric Guzak had been very efficient.

His latest performance stole the show.

The senior completed 6-of-7 passes for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Planets manhandled the previously unbeaten Indians 38-14 at the Mars Athletic Complex.

His 15-yard scoring strike to wideout Brian Cassidy gave the Planets an early 7-0 lead.

Later in the first period, his arm got his team out of its own end when he found Ben Bair for a 45-yard gain.

Three plays later, on the first play of the second quarter, wide receiver Aaron Lozzi dove for a Guzak pass in the end zone for a 45-yard touchdown reception.

Guzak was a perfect 5-for-5 for 116 yards and the two scores at halftime.

"We can throw the football and I think a lot of people don't realize that," said Mars coach Scott Heinauer. "Eric Guzak had a great game tonight."

Guzak now has six touchdown passes in four games. He threw for three touchdowns all of last season.

"I guess it's just been a year of growing up," said Guzak, who took part in two offseason passing camps. "Those camps helped me read defenses better and make quicker decisions.

"My coaches have a lot of confidence in me right now," he added.

"This was the best he's thrown the football so far this season," said Indiana coach Mark Zilinskas. "So, we were a bit surprised at how well he played, but we knew Mars wasn't just a one-man team with (Austin) Miele.

Miele had another standout performance, scoring the first of his three touchdown runs just before halftime as the Planets held a 21-0 lead at the break.

Miele ended the game with 158 yards on 28 carries.

Unlike the Planets (3-1, 2-0), Indiana's offense found no balance.

Indians quarterback Kyle Edgar misfired on his first nine pass attempts and his team's occasional big play on the ground wasn't enough to keep up with the Planets, as Indiana had just 94 yards of offense at the break.

The Indians (3-1, 1-1) did cut Mars' edge to two scores when Reed Bair returned a fumble 16 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter, but the Planets scored the next 17 points.

"We needed to be fast out of the gate tonight," said Heinauer. "We had to be physical and we were."

The Planets play at Kittanning next Friday.
