Butler VA Health Care System implements COVID-19 protection protocols
The Butler VA Health Care System implemented “level high” COVID-19 protocols Tuesday, as part of its nationwide approach by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to adjust safety measures as needed in its facilities.
Masks are required regardless of the level, but requirements for self-screening, visitation, and physical distancing vary. The other high level measures include required self-screening of facility occupants, care team-approved visitors only and physical distancing will be required.
The three COVID-19 “Health Protection Levels“ of low, medium and high align with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s measurement of community transmission levels, which are based on new COVID cases and percentage of positive tests.
The VHA COVID-19 Health Protection Level will be updated as needed on Mondays.
“Our local veterans are resolute about receiving their care at our facility and we want to keep them safe during the ups and downs of COVID-19 community spread,” said Sharon Coyle, director of the Butler VA. “Instead of increasing or decreasing access to care, safety protocols will be adjusted based on COVID-19 levels in the community.”
