SUGARCREEK TWP, Armstrong County — A man and his girlfriend have been charged with criminal homicide following the death of the man's father Wednesday, according to state police.

George Edward Burdette III, 30, allegedly killed his father, George Edward Burdette Jr., 58, following an argument at a trailer at 291 Little Road, according to a police report.

The criminal complaint stated that state police were called to investigate a mobile home fire at 291 Little Road, and were told that Burdette Jr., Burdette III and his girlfriend, Cheyanna Lebaron, 29, were unaccounted for.

Burdette Jr. was reported missing Thursday, and Friday state police learned Burdette III had sold a firearm to a relative despite being a felon not allowed to possess a firearm, according to the report.

Burdette III and Lebaron were brought to a police station for questioning. Lebaron told police that Burdette III threw a cup of bleach in his father's face and hit him on the head with a baseball bat, killing him, according to the complaint.

The report also stated that Lebaron told police she aided Burdette III in disposing of Burdette Jr.'s body 1.6 miles from the scene in a wooded area along Burns Hill Road in Sugarcreek Township.

Burdette Jr.'s body was located by investigators about 100 feet from the road. It was wrapped in a tarp.

Police said Lebaron told them that Burdette III was upset with his father over something said about Lebaron.

Police said the fire was set to cover up the crime.
