Helen A. Smith Carter
Helen Ann Smith Carter, 66, of Millcreek Township, Erie County, died Sunday at her residence.
She was born in Butler, May 4, 1942, the daughter of the late William L. Smith and Mary Monroe Smith.
She had resided in Erie since 1977 and had been employed at Magnetics and at the Butler Eagle as a typesetter.
She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross and a mentoring program.
She enjoyed playing Scrabble.
She is survived by one daughter, Terri L. Toy (Linford) of Millcreek; three sisters, Mary C. Yamnitsky, Rose E. McCall and Agnes W. Widenhofer, all of Butler; five brothers, William C. Smith of Arizona, John P. Smith of California, James M. Smith of Butler, Donald R. Smith of New Kensington and Thomas J. Smith of Herman; one beloved granddaughter, Lauren Helen Baldauf; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Carter; and a sister, Trudy Moore.
<B>CARTER </B>— Friends of Helen Ann Smith Carter, who died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory</B>, 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rick Crocker officiating.
