Sankey 90th birthday
Theodore “Bob” Sankey of Butler celebrated his 90th birthday at a party at home with his family and friends.
He was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Saxonburg. He married Frances “Alene” Hinchberger” on June 6, 1946, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
He has six children, Thomas Sankey of Columbus, Ga., Barbara Malis of Butler, Donna Huff of Butler, Jacqueline Daugherty of Butler, Edwin Sankey of Pittsburgh and Ronald Sankey of Butler. He also has 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Sankey is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He is a Cold War and atomic veteran.
Sankey also worked in hospital purchasing and administration for Allegheny General Hospital, Butler Memorial Hospital and the Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania.
He is a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. He also is a member of VFW Post 249, Michael Kosar American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and General Richard Butler DAV Chapter 64. He is the last living charter member of the South Butler Volunteer Fire Department.
