Rose Olexsak

Rose Olexsak, 93, of Butler passed away Wednesday afternoon at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Feb. 3, 1922, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas Medwid and Catherine (Dickey) Medwid.

Rose was a homemaker. She had worked at the Shell Shop at the Armco Steel plant in Butler during World War II and also was a caretaker for officer's children during the war.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, was an avid walker with her family, was an outdoors person who enjoyed fishing and gardening, but mostly loved to spend her time with her family.

Surviving are her three sons, Frank Olexsak of Butler, Richard (Carol) Olexsak of Butler and David (Karen) Olexsak of North Washington; three grandchildren, Christine (Jeff) Olson of Baden, Erica Olexsak and her fiance, Cody, of Hooker and Philip Olexsak of North Washington; three great-grandchildren, Dustin, Kasey and Addison; and she was expecting a fourth great-grandchild, Cullen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank P. Olexsak, who she married Sept. 27, 1942, and who died Aug. 15, 2007; and her brothers and sisters, Mary Medwid, Helen Medwid, Nick Medwid, Olga Stefura and Ann Stein.

OLEXSAK — Friends of Rose Olexsak, who died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
