BUTLER TWP — An employee wellness seminar is being held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Findley Auditorium at Butler Memorial Hospital, Tower Entrance, East Brady Street.

A doctor from Highmark will discuss health assessments from a national perspective. The Butler County Health Assessment will be explained by Dr. Thomas McGill from Butler Memorial Hospital.

A panel discussion will follow on the mechanics and resources available for creating employee wellness programs.

The seminar is made possible through the sponsorships of Highmark and Butler Health System in cooperation with the Butler County Chamber of Commerce.

County home sales down slightlyPITTSBURGH — West Penn Multi-List, which offers real estate listings to subscribing brokers, reported southwestern Pennsylvania posted a 15.85 percent increase in homes sold in September 2011.That’s 2,901 homes this September as compared with 2,504 in September 2010.Allegheny, Beaver, Washington and Westmoreland counties all reported increases in home sales, while Butler County slightly decreased, about 0.84 percent, or 236 homes this September, as compared to 238 homes in September 2010.West Penn also reported that the average sale price rose a meager 0.19 percent, from $154,660 in September 2010 to $154,950 in September 2011.All numbers are based on the 13-county area West Penn serves.
