Rev. Guy L. Neal
The Rev. Guy L. Neal of Hollywood, Fla., passed on Tuesday to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rev. Neal was born in Fredonia, Mercer County.
After graduation from Stoneboro High School and Anderson College, he pastored Church of God congregations in Anderson, Ind., as a faithful servant of Christ for 50 years in Chesterfield, Ind., Michigan City, Ind., Greenville, Pa., Cambridge Springs, Pa., St. Louis, Mich., and Hollywood, Fla.
Pastor Neal leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Norma J. (Greggs) Neal, who he married in Stoneboro on Dec. 31, 1949. He also leaves two sons, the Rev. Terry L. Neal, who is the pastor of the First Church of God, Hollywood, Fla., and his spouse, Sue Ann, and Vance L. Neal, who is a financial consultant in Zelienople and also an ordained minister in the Church of God and his spouse, Susan T. Neal.
He also is survived by four grandchildren, Barbara S. Neal, Jennifer L. Lamazares, Kevin V. Neal and Eve M. Hodgens; and two great-grandchildren, Broc N. Lamazares and Chloe L. Lamazares.
Surviving siblings include Margaret Vath of Stoneboro and Dennis D. Neal of Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harry R. Neal and Grace G. Neal; and two brothers, Oren C. Neal and Harry LaVelle Neal. A son, Mark E. Neal, was killed in a car accident on Feb. 2. 1978.
Under Rev. Neal's service, each of the churches he served had solid numerical and spiritual growth. He also served as the chaplain of the Volunteer Pennsylvania State Police and the Cambridge Springs (Pa.) Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of town council of Cambridge Springs.
Rev. Neal served as a member of the Integration Committee of the Church of God, the Credentials Committee of the Church of God and the Whitehall Camp Board of Directors, and as chairman of the Greenville Ministerium.
Rev. Guy L. Neal was an avid deep sea fisherman, winning the Fort Lauderdale catch of the week with a 41-pound, 82-inch sailfish. He also enjoyed hunting Pennsylvania whitetail deer and harvested many bucks.
Having a background in plumbing and heating, he built three homes and two cottages and led churches in five successful building projects in his years as a pastor.
Pastor Neal will be greatly missed by his family, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
<B>NEAL</B> — Visitation for the Rev. Guy L. Neal, who died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the First Church of God, 201 N. 57th Ave., Hollywood, Fla., followed by a service celebrating Pastor Neal’s life at 11 a.m. and a meal in the church fellowship hall. The service will be conducted by his sons, the Rev. Terry L. Neal and the Rev. Vance L. Neal.A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Lakeview Church of God, 2479 Mercer Road, Stoneboro. Host pastor Nicholas Wilson and the Rev. Terry L. Neal and the Rev. Vance L.
