Feeling Festive
SAXONBURG — The Saxonburg Festival of the Arts has scheduled events from a 5K race to fine arts demonstrations Sept. 8 and 9 in Roebling Park and along Main Street.
Except for the 5K, activities take place between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 8 and noon and 5 p.m. Sept. 9.
The schedule includes:
• 5K Run & Community Walk, 8 a.m., Roebling Park• Fine arts, photography and ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) exhibits, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., New Saxonburg Memorial Church, lower level• C•raft and food booths, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Roebling Park, Cooper Hall and Main Street• Saxonburg Area Artist's Co-Op, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., metalworking, woodworking and sculpture demonstrations and musical artists, 215 Main St. rear• “Kids Korner” children's crafts, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., library grounds• Knoch Jazz Band, noon to 1 p.m., Roebling Park• “Jimbo” The Clown, 1 to 4 p.m., strolling the town• “Man in the Window: A John Roebling Story,” two shows, one at 1:30 and one at 3:30 p.m., Old Saxonburg Memorial Church• Gibbons Big Band, 1:30 to 3 p.m., Roebling Park• East Winds Symphonic Band, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Roebling Park• Monongahela Duck Club Band, 4 to 5 p.m., will perform for Christmas in September at St. Luke's Church sanctuary, Main Street. The group, known for its vocal harmonies, musicianship and expressive arrangements, will recreate the Christmas concert it has performed for years at West Virginia's Greenbrier Hotel.“It's a Surprise,” 6 to 7 p.m., Roebling Park
