Donegal Township holds line on taxes
Donegal Township supervisors adopted a balanced $373,433 budget that does not raise taxes next year.
The budget maintains the current taxes, including a real estate tax rate of 2.25 mills, 2.25-mill fire service tax, $52 local service tax, $5 per capita tax, 1 percent wage tax and 1 percent non-resident tax.
Revenue includes $200,000 from earned income taxes, $80,000 Act 13 impact fees, $31,000 from real estate taxes, $20,000 from the cable TV franchise agreement, $10,000 from local service taxes and $9,100 from foreign fire insurance premiums.
Expenditures include $110,950 for street department wages, $54,421 for insurance, $40,350 for highway maintenance, $39,000 for truck payments, $21,735 for the secretary/treasurer's wages and expenses, $18,000 for employee benefits, $12,750 for municipal building maintenance and heating, $12,655 for general administration costs, $10,900 for tools, repairs and machinery and $10,000 for the solicitor's retainer.
