Man faces 4th DUI charge

A West Sunbury man is facing his fourth charge of driving under the influence.

State police Monday obtained an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Christopher Bowser, who is charged with felony DUI following a welfare check call last week in Brady Township.

Police said they were called shortly before 10 p.m. Dec. 2 for a man reportedly slumped over the steering wheel of a car at or near the exit of the Brady Hills trailer park on Hall Road.

Troopers found the man, later identified as Bowser, as described by the caller. The car, police said, was a little past the stop sign at the trailer park's exit.

Police knocked on the window to awaken the defendant. The car smelled of alcohol, police said, and there were open cases and cans of beer in the back seat.

Bowser admitted to “drinking prior to operating the vehicle,” according to charging documents.

He subsequently showed impairment during field sobriety tests, police said, and he was taken to the barracks for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was over the state's 0.08 percent limit.

Because of his prior DUI convictions, Bowser is charged with a felony count of DUI. Police also cited him for driving with a suspended license-DUI related and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Online court records did not list an attorney for him.
