Butler pounds Ambridge 11-1
Josh Edwards and Steve Scott each smacked two-run home runs in the fourth inning to lead Butler to an 11-1, five-inning victory over Ambridge Monday.
Butler had scored seven runs in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead.
Joe Rekich added a single and double, and Matt McCune had two singles for Butler.
In other action:
Tyler Williams hit a grand-slam home run, two doubles and had five RBI, but A-C Valley fell to Redbank Valley 14-12 in eight innings.
The Falcons' John Piecenski hit a solo home run and Andy Smith had a two-run home run to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Dustin Caylor and Jesse Alfreno each hit home runs as Grove City thumped Sharon, 15-5.
The Eagles (10-2, 9-1) scored 11 runs in the top of the third inning.
Scott Jordan drove in David Slagle with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh and then closed out the game on the mound in the bottom of the frame as Karns City (13-0, 12-0) remained unbeaten with a 7-6 win over Clarion.
Union tallied 19 total runs in picking up a pair of victories over North Clarion 12-2 in six innings and 7-5 in the nightcap. Kyle Hilliard improved his record to 5-1 in the first game, allowing just four hits.
