CRANBERRY TWP — Vehicle break-ins in different areas of southwest Butler County are unrelated and not a trend, law enforcement officials said this week.

Break-ins were reported last week near the Adams Ridge development in Adams Township. According to Robert Scanlon, assistant police chief, the incidents happened over the course of a few days.

In Cranberry Township, Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said there were three overnight vehicle break-ins in the Winchester Lakes development on June 15, but it’s not a trend. He added the incidents in the two townships aren’t related.

“It happens every year, especially when the weather gets nice,” he said.

The vehicle windows were broken. Cash was taken from two vehicles and nothing was taken from the third vehicle.

Mascellino and Scanlon said to avoid break-ins people should remove all valuables from their cars, keep them locked and if possible, park inside.
