Sivak retires after 32 years of service

The 16th Military Police Brigade announces the retirement of Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas S. Sivak Jr., of Butler, following 32 years of active service.

He entered the Army in 1984 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort McClelland, Ala., graduating as a military policeman.

Throughout his career, Sivak has served in a variety of leadership positions, including team leader, squad leader, platoon sergeant, operations sergeant, first sergeant, operations sergeant major, battalion command sergeant major, and brigade command sergeant major.

Sivak’s stateside assignments included Fort Bragg; Fort Myer, Va.; Fort Bliss, Texas; and Fort Riley, Kan. His overseas assignments include three tours in Korea, and tours in Heidelberg and Mannheim, Germany. Most recently Sivak served as brigade command sergeant major, 8th Military Police Brigade, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

He deployed overseas to Panama twice and to Haiti, Croatia, Iraq and Afghanistan. Sivak is a combat veteran of Operations Just Cause, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

He received numerous awards and decorations for his service. He is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and has received the prestigious Military Police “Order of the Marechaussee.”

Sivak is married to Suna Sivak. They have two sons, SSG Steven Sivak and Andrew Sivak, and a granddaughter.
