Man pleads guilty
An Allegheny County man, housed in the Butler County Prison and later charged with possession contraband in the facility, entered a guilty plea in Butler County Court on Tuesday.
David D. Graczyk, 31, of Avalon pleaded guilty to felony contraband before county Judge William Shaffer.
The plea agreement calls for two to four years in a state correctional facility when he is sentenced on June 29.
Graczyk was charged by Butler County detectives after he was caught with prescription medication and tobacco in the facility. Police said remains of chewed tobacco in the toilet of the cell gave him away.
According to court documents, the correctional officer who noticed the evidence in the toilet immediately suspected Graczyk, who had his hands down the back of his pants.
Upon searching him, guards found a bundle of tobacco under the waistband of his pants, according to documents. A second bundle of tobacco fell out of his pant leg as he was being taken for a strip search.
The subsequent strip search, documents said, turned up another bundle, which contained tobacco, one Suboxone strip and two Xanax pills,
Graczyk was being held in the facility on a warrant from Westmoreland County at the time.
He continues to be held in the facility on $25,000 bail, pending sentencing and being turned over to state corrections authorities.
