Collection held for Toys for ToysJACKSON TWP — The township municipal office is hosting a Toys for Tots drop box in the municipal building lobby. Acceptable items are new, unwrapped toys.The municipal building is at 140 Magill Road. It will be open for donations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Monday and Tuesday.The last day for collection is Tuesday.

School tax deadline nears for residentsThe last day for city residents to pay school taxes at face value is Wednesday. To avoid paying the 10 percent penalty, residents can pay at the city building by Wednesday, the city building mail slot by Wednesday evening, or pay by mail, with the envelope postmarked by Nov. 30.City Treasurer John Grenci reminds residents that 2016 school taxes that are not paid by Dec. 31 will go to collections. Anyone unable to pay their current real estate taxes may pay the per capita portion for 2016 so that portion does not go to collections. It is not included with real estate taxes when paid at the Tax Claim Office.

VFW Auxiliary takes male membershipsThe VFW Post 249 Auxiliary is now accepting male memberships. Anyone closely related to a service person, male or female, who has served overseas and would like to join the Auxiliary can stop by the VFW Post 249 on Jefferson Street for more information.
