TOKYO — Japanese video-game maker Nintendo Co. is reporting a $216 million loss for January-March, bigger than the loss it reported the previous year.

Quarterly sales fell 26 percent on-year to $708 million as overseas revenues were hurt by a stronger yen.

It racked up a nearly 18 billion yen quarterly loss the previous year.

The Kyoto-based company behind Pokemon and Super Mario games said Wednesday it expects to recover to a $314 million profit for the fiscal year ending in March 2017.

Recent sales of Nintendo's Wii U machine have lagged rivals Sony's PlayStation 4 console and Microsoft's Xbox One.

NEW YORK — Chipotle posted its first quarterly loss as a public company Tuesday after it gave away millions of free burritos to win back customers following a series of food scares.

The Mexican food chain said Tuesday that sales were down 29.7 percent during the first three months of the year.

To get people back in the habit of visiting Chipotle, the company has been giving away coupons for entrees since early February. During the quarter, Chipotle said it gave away about 6 million entrees.
