Mars softball powers past Indiana
Brie Berkopec and Zara Zollner each homered and drove in three runs as the Mars High School softball team blanked Indiana 10-0 Monday afternoon.
Berkopec also doubled and singled for the Planets (10-3 overall, 7-1 in the section).
Monica Glomb tossed a one-hitter in the victory, striking out six and walking no one.
Zollner added a double for Mars.
In other action:
Courtney Grootegoed had two doubles and drove in five runs as Seneca Valley rolled to an 11-1 win over North Hills.
Julie Marlow also enjoyed a big day at the plate with a double, single and two RBI.
Krista Chiappini tossed a three-hitter for her third consecutive shutout as Grove City blanked Hickory 6-0.
The Eagles (6-4, 4-3) took advantage of seven walks and seven errors by the Hornets.
Kari Barnes drove in two runs for Grove City.
Knoch's Sharayah Kiddle broke up Katy Munshower's no-hitter with a single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Knights fell to Highlands 3-0.
Liz Coradi got Slippery Rock's only hit in a 6-0 loss to Oil City.
