Yellowjackets win OT thriller
It was a wild one in Freeport Tuesday night.
The Yellowjackets' Nick Rutkoski scored on a tip-in at the buzzer to cap a 35-point fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.
Brady Sherrieb then scored six of Freeport's 12 points in the extra frame to help the Yellowjackets to a frenetic 107-102 overtime boys basketball win against Leechburg.
Rutkoski scored 17 points and had 15 rebounds.
Nate Kotecki got Freeport going with 16 points in the first quarter, but the Yellowjackets (4-1) hit a lull in the second quarter and had to rally in the second half.
Kotecki finished with 28 points.
Brian Zimmerman scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and also had 15 rebounds.
Sherrieb scored a team-high 29 points and had seven steals and seven assists.
The two teams combined to shoot 85 free throws. Three players for each team fouled out.
Andy Tressler paced Leechburg with 40 points.
Freeport hit 10 3-pointers. Leechburg fired in seven.
