Robert E. Burkhart, 59, of Sligo, formerly of Butler, died Tuesday at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, after a long illness.

Born March 22, 1949, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Maxine Hepner Burkhart and the late Walter Burkhart.

He was a member of the Rider Lutheran Church.

Mr. Burkhart was a self-employed contractor.

He is survived by his mother of Parker; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Dena) Baptiste of West Sunbury and Renea Burkhart of Butler; a son, Doug Burkhart of West Sunbury; four grandchildren, Crystal and Jacqulyn Baptiste, Zachery Burkhart and Curtis Musser; four siblings, Nancy Anderson, Maxine Ciezslak and Danny Burkhart, all of Pittsburgh, and Russ Burkhart of Parker; and his former wife, Debbie Burkhart of North Washington.

<B>BURKHART</B> — Friends of Robert E. Burkhart, who died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Rider Lutheran Church, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Hindman officiating. Burial will be at the Rider Cemetery.
