OAKLAND TWP — A man was injured Friday afternoon after a car driving on Chicora Road hit his riding lawn mower.

The accident happened around 2:35 p.m. when a Ford SUV reportedly rear-ended a Toyota sedan in front of the O'Donnell's Beer Distributor and car wash, Oneida Valley Fire Chief Jeff Stoner said.

The vehicles were driving eastbound. The car, after getting hit, went across the southbound lane and onto the lawn in front of a house.

When the car hit the lawn-mower, the man was thrown off and hit his head on a rock, state police said.

He was taken by East Butler EMS to Oakland Township Elementary School where he was flown by a medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

The drivers of the two vehicles, both female, suffered minor injuries but refused EMS treatment.

The driver of the SUV will likely be cited for the accident, police said.
