Butler Church of the NazareneVonda Mishler and Gwen Atkinson will provide music for the Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, Butler Township. The Rev. Ron Reagle, district evangelist from Franklin, will speak at both weekend services.The church will host a free community dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Church members who wish to contribute something to the meal should call the church office at 724-482-4116.A choir practice has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Christ Community U.M.A Red Church offering will be received Sunday at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, Butler Township. Funds will be given to Church World Service for the purchase of blankets.Photos for the new church directory will be taken from 2 to 9:30 p.m. July 20 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 21. To schedule a time, contact the church office at 724 287-4462. An additional portrait date has been scheduled for 3 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

Christ's OutreachAblock party will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday for all vacation Bible school attendees, parents and volunteers. An outdoor worship service for children will follow the party.Asign-up sheet has been posted in the sanctuary for those planning to attend the church picnic Aug. 5 at the Mount Chestnut campgrounds. This will help in the planning and preparations.The Grub Runners will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the church parking lot. The restaurant destination has not yet been announced.

Community LifeCommunion will be served at the worship service July 22 at Community Life Church, McQuistion Elementary School.The youth group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of the Ogles.

Covenant PresbyAmy Bole will be the guest vocalist at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.Beginning Tuesday, the Prayer Cordon will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The group meets in the church library for intercessory prayer for personal and world concerns.

First BaptistFirst Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will host its annual all-church picnic at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Road, Worth Township. The program will include swimming, canoeing, tubing, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, softball, children's games, a dessert contest and crafts. The 5 p.m. meal will be followed by a devotional in the gym led by youth pastor Jeff Gwilt and a music program directed by Todd Wentworth.A junior camp for children from AIBCWP churches in grades four to six is set for Monday through Saturday of the coming week at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp.

First English LutheranFirst English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., is in need of helpers for Camp Creation, July 16-20, including someone to do a craft on Tuesday and Thursday.

First U.M.The youth of First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., will meet at the church parking lot at 5 p.m. Tuesday for their trip to Quaker Steak and Lube.Anew elective, Raising a Modern-Day Knight, will begin Wednesday. The seven-week elective is intended to help fathers and grandfathers connect with their sons and grandsons. Glade Run U.P.The Rev. Dick Morledge will be the guest speaker at the Sunday services at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia.The Senior High Youth Group will leave Sunday for a mission trip to Harvest School for the Deaf in Ringgold, Ga.

Grace @ Calvary LutheranOrders for the Angel Food Ministry for July will be taken from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St. The last order session for the month will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.Recipes for the church cookbook are due Sunday. Submissions can be placed in the designated box in the narthex.

GraceWay CommunityBeth and Lyric Ackelson will provide music for the 10 a.m. Sunday service at GraceWay Community Church, Center Township Elementary School, Mercer Road, Center Township. Mars U.P.Vacation Bible school participants will participate in the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars. The congregation will also pray for the Rev. Jean Gomola and the church youth traveling to Jekyll Island for the Youth Conference Ministries "Fun in the Son."

Meridian U.P.Members of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, Highland Avenue, Butler Township, are invited to a progressive picnic Sunday. The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the home of Ed and Ruth Monnie, 308 S. Eberhart Road. Participants should take an appetizer to share and a lawn chair. The next location will be the home of Bob Sloan, 4115 North Drive. Deacons will provide hot dogs and desserts.

Mt. Chestnut PresbyVacation Bible school participants will present music during the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422, Franklin Township. A picnic will follow the service in the picnic shelter. Nixon U.M.An informal worship service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Nixon United Methodist Church, 334 Airport Road, Penn Township. Afellowship time will follow from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the social hall. Traditional worship will begin at 10 a.m. Skip Cooper, Joshua Glace, Eric Lunn and Eric Walker will provide music for the 10 a.m. service.

New Life Christian MinistriesBill Richardson of Cutting Edge Ministries will share information about the mission's work on Sunday at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg. The youth mission team will be serving with Cutting Edge the week of July 28 in St. Barnard's Parish, La. The group will be doing reconstruction work that remains from Hurricane Katrina.The Central Blood Bank, in conjunction with New Life Christian Ministries, will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Knoch School. The drive is open to the community and no appointments are necessary.

North Main Street Church of GodThe Women's Ministry of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler Township, is collecting names of women interested in attending the City Wide Yard Sales in Volant July 28. Those interested can sign up at the Welcome Center or by calling the church office at 724-285-4214.The Children's Ministry, Noah's Park, will host a family outing from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Eracers. Cost is $16.50 per person and includes unlimited activities.

Main St., Evans City, is planning a boat tour of Lake Arthur and Moraine State Park Wednesday.The SERRV group is planning a working trip to Church World Service Center in New Windsor, Md. Aug. 2 and 3. After working a six-hour shift at the center, participants will be able to shop at the Greater Gift Fair Trade Gift Shop. Valencia PresbyEd Blank, a student at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, will lead the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett Street, Valencia.Ladies of the LS Dickson class are planning a trip Monday to Pittsburgh for a ducky tour. The group will car pool from the church parking lot, leaving at 9 a.m. The cost of the tour is $18. Lunch at Station Square will follow the tour. Deadline to RSVP is Sunday.Planning is under way for the annual rummage sale, scheduled for July 28. Items can be dropped off at the church July 23 through 26. Zion U.M.Donations are still needed for the Avalanche Ranch vacation Bible school at Zion United Methodist Church, Bear Creek Road, Sarver. A list of needed items is in the narthex.Congregation members are asked to take and fill out a thank you card from the narthex. The cards will be sent to troops serving overseas. Members may include names and addresses of specific servicemen and women who should receive cards.
